Hatch On Dates: Oct-nov? Dont Forget About This Post!!!

Wow well I imagine you can't wait that long to take out the ones that hatched- I'd like to take suggestions on when I should snag the ones that have already hatched out of there.

I took ours out as soon as they dried, but I have a little giant bator so I go threw the window and do it so fast the humidity doesn't drop

You don't want to leave them too long, they can dehydrate.

chicks can live 2-3 days without food or water. At the end of their hatch, they absorb the yolk, so they are fine in the incubator until the others hatch. Also, the humidity is so high during lockdown that they are very unlikely to dehydrate (just think how long it takes them to dry out in the incubator). Wait as long as you can to avoid "shrink wrapping" the other chicks in their shells. That said, I sometimes sneak some out of the incubator if I am really worried and I can't see any active pips on the other eggs. Congrats on the new babies!!

Not sure if it's the same or not, but after our first chik hathed, we waited 24 hours then opened the window to our LG to get the little guy out and the humidity barely dropped, and went right back up and we still had 5 more hatch after that. Not sure if this helps much or not but this was our experience and I plan on doing it this way when I get my silkie eggs.

So my plan is this-brooder will be ready this evening (Day 21) I am considering if there are no pips visible exchanging a hot wet little sock for the already hatched ones to keep the humidity up. Would that work? I have a Brinsea Eco 20.
