Everyone recommends different times - 6 hrs, 12 hrs, 24 hrs... use your best judgement and read many of the threads on here about shipped eggs. There really is not wrong or right as far as I can figure out. Some of mine sat for 48 hrs (waiting on another shipment), others only for 12. I really can't tell yet that either resting time had any influence on viability

I do recommend you buy from BYC members. They will care about how your eggs are shipped and put more effort into getting you good eggs than a stranger/ebay seller may. Some of the members here have outstanding silkies that are show quality as well as pet quality.

I'm trying a jab at incubating eggs after loosing my last batch just last week. Not by my breeders fault, but my own. My temp and humidity jumped around to much. I will be trying the dry incubation method this time. My fingers and toes are crossed!

I will be setting eggs from my own flock. My flock consist of four red stars, one sebright, one old english game, one EE and one blue Silkie roo who rules the flock. Oh, by the way, I had to put him in his place today. He came at me which has never happened before. That little brat

But I'm sure he will make some adorable mutt chickies

So tomorrow October first will be the big day when I set my eggs. I do have a question...

* I have read it's okay to set bantam eggs with regular chicken eggs. Is this accurate?

Wish everyone the best of luck with their hatches. I can't wait to see pictures of all the little fluffy butts running around.

I candled my eggs tonight instead of tomorrow, couldnt wait, and since I am using my dual flash on my Droid X there isn't a way to get any pictures.

Out of 14 eggs I have 10 that are alive and growing!! I did notice though that a couple of the eggs the chick is a lot smaller compared to the others. Anyone know why this is?

stephanie1992, great thread you started! I'm loving the pictures and the video of the movement inside the candled egg. Oh, I can't forget the hatching calendar

JEH1984, I will be trying my iphone with my candling. It sounds like your Droid is working great for you. I only hope the iphone can manage to shine through my red stars egg.
