Awesome Steph, I reckon if you can test your own eggs in your bator it takes away alot of the factors that can cause bad hatches such as bad shipping. I so hope it hatches for you!!!

Whew! Maybe a few more out by morning, then the leftovers will be float tested, then we sit back and watch the growing marathon.

I am headed off to bed and am really hoping that we'll wake up to a couple chicks in the morning!!! I REALLY want them to hatch before I have to head out of town early Saturday morning! Then I can have them all settled in the brooder and don't have to worry about the incubator and humidity going haywire while I am not here to fix it!

So exciting after losing the other 13 to mailing stress and incubator hassles!

nurse_turtle - lovely looking batch you have there!! Stephanie, your humidity should be around 40% for the first 18 days. If it is too low the eggs will lose too much moisture and the chicks won't hatch well if at all, and if much above that they will lose too little and drown.

I also have my first pip (confess to having to look it up to find out what pip ment), I kind of thought the hatching would be real quick and keep checking her, I also looked that up and found it can be some time before they hatch from the pip. What I did notice is the one that is piped is at the front and she got off for a stretch and has rolled the piped one over, is that ok or should I roll it so the piped part is at the top???

I have to say the incubator way looks real technical to a first timer!!

How can you tell if the chick is shrink wrapped? The air cells in a few of the eggs are very large. Im confused and I want them to be able to hatch out. I have my humidity in the incubator at 65%. Should I try and get it higher?! I am starting to worry about the size of the air cells...
