Yeah!! Glad to hear it turned out to be a good egg!! Good luck with lockdown, we also go into lockdown on friday not sure to use my sponges or use the paper towel method...how long do I have to mess with humidity before I cant open again?

im nt sure actully on the whole humidity thing. im nt even ganna mess with the humidity in mine since i dnt even now what it is and i only have the one egg hatching monday, i have so many other eggs in there i dnt want to mess them up. im just ganna monitor this egg and make sure it hatches ok.

I've read that the humidity will go up once they start to hatch but they need humidity during lockdown to be able to hatch without complications

Yup, otherwise they may have trouble getting out of the egg. I would put a sponge in a small baby jar filled with water in the corner just in case, that should pull you up to where you need.

In this picture, you see the white thermometer?! It has a reader for humidity. Thats how I tell what mine is.

Yeah steph you need a hydrometer I'm using the little giant still air and I played around with it so I knew pretty much what it takes to keep temp and humidity the thing is the little giant is unpredictable I've had to will all the reservoirs in the bottom and add 3 sponges to get that sucker up to where it needs to be.

That one is very much like the one I have. Works wonders.

I candle my Marans on Friday (7th). Normally I would take a peek on day 4 but since these things are sooooo dark, figured I'd wait a bit so hopefully I can make out any growth better.

I also have the walmart acurite therm/hydrometer it works pretty good. i was wondering if I get my humidity to stay at 65% by some miracle do I need to worry if the humidity spikes when chicks start hatching?
