just went into lockdown! I set 10 eggs and 9 made it to lockdown (one quit early at 1 week). I made a real effort to avoid candling these eggs too often. I candled at 1 week/ 2 weeks and lockdown-- so far/ so good! Some of the eggs are too deeply colored (blue-green) to see more than the air cell, but the chicks in the pale blue eggs were squirming all over! Yeah! My temp has been dead on during the entire incubation, and the humidity has been pretty easy to manage. I think that maybe letting the auto turner do it's job and avoiding opening the incubator to candle too often is the best way to go. I know that my broody hens seem to sit in a trance all day long, except one quick trip off the nest most days, so I have been trying to copy them. Hoping this new strategy works!
