Almost two weeks ago while brush hogging our field I ran right over (and killed) a mother duck (Mallard). Sure enough, she was setting on ten eggs.
My wife, daughter and I buried the momma where she laid along with her nest. We then gathered up the eggs. We have had two brooding hens for awhile now so we figured it is time to put them to work.
We gave each one of them five eggs. Here are some of the results
We have four babys so far. We lost one egg to a predator last week and don't expect a couple of the eggs to hatch but we are doing the best we can for the momma duck!
