Tomorrow is day 18 for my chicken eggs. I decided to candle tonight so I could do it with the room good and dark. Some of the eggs are looking right where they should and others look to be only halfway? This whole hatch has been disappointing. I set 42 eggs. Ended up 6 were clear. I'm down to 13 eggs as the rest have quit at various stages. The ones looking halfway have good veins and I saw movement in some of them too.

Dont know what to say bout the underdeveloped eggs but 13 out of 42 is tough. I hope you get some quality chicks out of those 13 to make it worth the effort. I just did some candling on day 5 eggs that where shipped and had several i couldnt see any veining in. I realy want to hatch out some good bbs bantam orps. I got barred rock bantams in there also and dont know wich is wich so im hoping it was the orps with most the veining. Ill candle again in a few days before i toss any.

You can always put them in the hatcher and hope they are just a day or so behind. I've had some that had pipped internally in with eggs set at the same time that looked slower too.

I locked down the bator for hatch.

Either they make it or they don't, not much I can do. It is strange though as they were all collected and then set together. It is not a staggard hatch but, it sure looks like one.

Cyn, I'm glad to hear you say you have some not so great hatches too. It gives us newbies to hatching a boost!
