Hatch with me! Placed in bator on 5-13-2010. First hatch!

The first pip looks like a tiny x and sometimes you can barely see it at first! I've had them take from 5 hours to 31 hours from pip to hatch! Of course the 31 hour chick was upsidedown and took longer to figure out how to hatch!

I would take out at least one vent plug to bring your humidity down to 70. It is normal for the humidity to go up when the chicks start pipping, and it is also good to open one vent to give the chicks more oxygen. HAPPY HATCHING!

Thanks alot. It sounds like I have Pips. I will take the vent plug out. I have one out already, so when I get home I will take the other one out.

If the eggs aren't moving like the other ones are, does that mean they aren't going to hatch or do different chicks just hatch differently?

I have never put eggs in lockdown early, but from what I have read, it is ok to put the eggs in lockdown a couple of days early.

DO NOT open your incubator! You will let out your humidity and your chicks could shrink wrap from their membrane drying out!! I had a chick pip to low last hatch and as much as I wanted to help him I sat on my hands and waited. It took him 31 hrs to hatch and when he did he was upsidedown and just fine! GOOD LUCK!!

I have never had my eggs move until they are actually trying to get out after zipping, but I hatch in egg cartons which hold them steady. I wouldn't worry about the eggs not moving, after pipping the chick rests and absorbs the egg yoke before it begins to zip! GO CHICKIES!

TOday is day 21 and all the eggs have hatched but one. They started Monday evening and the last one hatched in the middle of the night last night...total of 34 out of 35 eggs.

I had one pipping this am before I left for work. Couldn't tell if there were any others as I was running late. Did notice a few eggs had moved so that was good. So far I'm pretty happy. This is my first time hatching shipped eggs and out of 13 - 10 went into lockdown. 1 was not fertile and the other two were quitters.

I woke up to a total of four pips this morning. No chicks yet but lots of peeping.

my humidity dropped while I was asleep it went down to 61% will they be ok? I put water in there this morning and can barely get it back up. Are they drinking up more water than they had been? I didn't have trouble keeping it level before. I sure hope they aren't shrink wrapped.

Went to check on broody Ruby this morning, and I heard loud cheeping! I lifted her up just a little (yeah I know, I know... but I couldn't help it!) And there is at least one little ball of fluff already!

I told mama great job, and to think pink!

ETA: We have 2 fluffy balls already! Crossing our fingers for the other three!
