Hatch with me! Placed in bator on 5-13-2010. First hatch!

I have a Welsummer zipping right now - but nothing so far from my Lavender Orp eggs or the Blue Laced Red wyandottes...I'm still hoping, though!

I got home from work and there were five of them chirping away in there. I have 4 Barred Rocks and 1 RIR so far. 7 Pips right now. I think I am doing pretty good so far for my first hatch.

I included some pics of the new babes.

Oh on a side note my vaccine is here for the chickies!! right on time. Soon as the hatch is over they are getting the needle treatment.

Update. My hatch has ended abit early due to cat. I have 16 chicks in great shape, 5 shrink wrapped eggs that thankfully only 2 were good, and 2 that were zipped when the cat broke apart the bator... they were glued into their eggs but with an air hole. My husband and I have been hand opening them by hand. One is good the other is in a bad way, i dont think she will make the night.

Update:::15 assorted chicken eggs = 10 chicks and 5 late quitters. This hatch has ended.

Update:::15 guinea eggs and 1 bantam cochin = 9 keets so far waiting for action from the others.

My hatch is over as well. 6 of 8 hatched. The two that didn't make it were too large and couldn't move to zip. This is a high humidity issue~ never again will I do a split hatch and use that cheap LG incubator for my hatcher!!!

On top of that, I candled my 4 BLRW eggs due June 10th and 2 have died from broken, irregular air cells from shipping. So now I'm down to two and one of them doesn't look good!

Incubating shipped eggs can be so sad!!

I got a pip. I got a pip and a peep and a rocking egg. Just one but its alive and working furiously to get out of its shell. I will be watching very closely in case it needs help. Very first egg I have ever had pip.

Please read advice of experienced hatchers~ It is important not to open your incubator during a hatch ~why it's called lockdown! and don't be too quick to help. It can take hours, even over night for a chick to finally break out! As long as the chicks nostrils are unblocked they will be ok for you to help (much) later if need be! In most cases they will hatch just fine on their own

I would like to see you have the best hatch possible! GOOD LUCK!
