Hatch!

A newly hatched chick typically flares around in the bator and sleeps quite a bit. As long as the chick is on its belly, it should be fine. But they do occasionally get flipped over and will struggle to get back on their tummy. Unless it is on its back for quite some time, I wouldn't worry. They can take quite a few hours until they start running around, depending on the chick.

Like hinkjc said, don't let it lie on its back for any length of time. If the li'l guy is all dry and fluffy, you can put it in your brooder. I've heard others in this forum say they have had success with holding the baby up with their finger for a minute or two while it figures out how to put both feet down at the same time. You might try that a few times. Congrats on the fuzzy-butt!

Ok, I'm reading all of this and I'm thinking curled toes, sprat leggs (or whatever that is called)(legs spread out and chick does not stand), or maybe what the chick is trying to stand on...meaning what kind of flooring.

Then you say the chick was shaking and now wont stand...Oh, no.
Now I'm thinking Disease, hope I am wrong. Markems?

I am hoping the baby just can't get it's footing.
