So I'm not the only one. . . I loaded 14 dz eggs over the past week in different incubators. And Im thinkin about building another incubator.

This comment may go counter to the attempts at recovery from us hatchaholics...but I see where you're talking about "Building" an incubator.
I have a situation here where I have one egg that is behind the others by too many days. They are being sat on by my broody silkie hen, not incubator. The egg is very important to me for a variety of reasons.
Can you please share your method, or a link to how to build an incubator?
I don't "need" it for long, just under a week. I have very limited skills for constructing anything.
Can you help?
thanks.

Frizzled Olive Egger hopefully!
So cute! This is not helping.

It's almost the end of February, and I have one little egg in lockdown. I admit I just filled my online shopping cart with hatching eggs (Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Orpingtons and Marans...) and I was logging into PayPal, imagining a March Hatch-a-Long.

I emptied the shopping cart, and came to the hatchaholic thread!

Thank you! Good advice.

I can just imagine, the way chicken math works, that I hatch a half dozen eggs to get someone to keep the little Sebright company... and then the Sebright doesn't mesh with new Large Fowl chicks, so then I have to hatch a bantam mix...

I am going to sit on my hands for a while and try not ordering eggs.

Just make sure to put your blinders on when you go to the feed store to get chick supplies... It's not hatching, but those chicks that they put right by the door are so tempting! I wanted to "rescue" them from those sad looking cages today even though I already have 13 chicks to take care of!

The helpful thing is that I decided not to drive after someone hit our car and tipped it over. So I just stay in my little 1920s orchard cottage, and never set food in a feed store. I'm sure I would be tempted by the little cuties in sad cages!!

It's the online eggs that are my downfall. Those are probably easier to resist than little fluffballs. Good luck to you!

(Oh, no! I just remembered that I have four Silkies and one is a cockerel. He's really nice, and so far is very quiet. If I keep him, I may end up with fertile eggs under broody Silkie hens! How could I possibly evict them?? I may have to deal with fluffballs this summer, after all...)
