"I am locking my incubator away... Wait... no, Yes... N0... YES!!!" You sound like me! Every month! I guess I haven't locked it securely enough.

Well, locking it away didn't last long... I have TWO incubators going at the moment! One with 18 eggs and one with 6. In my defense though, the second bator chicks are for a dear friend who will be taking them to the local farmers market.

I am such a goner.

How many incubators does everyone have and what kind?

I have a brinsea mini advanced that I got used. I've figured out that the built in thermometer is off by half a degree. I decided that I wanted to be able to incubate more than 7-10 eggs at a time so I got a second incubator. I went cheap with a hovabator 1602n and I added a fan. The temp fluctuates a little more than I like, but with this batch of eggs I have gotten the humidity to stay stable. 10 eggs are on lockdown so we'll see how it goes. My first batch I had 2 hatch out of 9, but they were shipped eggs and I didn't know what I was doing with them.
I just recieved my second 1602N today . I have an old one that was gave to my son a month ago .Took all day to clean up .But oh so worth it .Hatch 63 out of 70 eggs. And of the 7 remining eggs all were quiters but 2 .So hubby suggested another bator .And I knew what to go with

Ok, you enablers!  I couldn't stop thinking about those cute chicks (yes, the black and white ones are adorable @theceltichorse
), and I filled up my shopping cart again and will have eggs on the way: Jubilee and Splash Orpingtons, Easter Eggers and a mystery egg.

At least I'm not trying to hatch emus!
where do you get your hatching eggs .

So basically y'all are saying that my first incubator and hatching chicks are a gateway drug? That I'll soon need more incubators, ducks, turkeys, quail to get my fix?
When is it too late?

Yes, that is exactly what we are saying. And more coops and more runs. Maybe even real estate. Someone on BYC recently mentioned she was selling her house and moving to the country. Because... chickens.

I have never yet heard of anyone going into rehab. It's claims of "I'm putting my incubator away," and then, nope. More eggs. More chicks.

Before this last hatch, I would have said, "Here and there, different eBay vendors. Sometimes poor hatches, sometimes good ones."

Now, I'm saying, "Papa's Poultry!" This is a wonderful place to get eggs. He has rare varieties, gorgeous birds, and 100% of my eggs that I put in the incubator hatched lovely, healthy chicks. He also gave me many more eggs than I paid for. Couldn't be happier. I am sure that others here will chime in with egg sources from around the country.
