Question. I have muscovy eggs in the incubator, this evening will make day 30. There's an internal pip in one egg.(there's only 2 left) should I stop turning and up the humidity? How long after the internal pup to possible hatch?? I'm so excited i ted and worried!!!!!

I have no experience with Muscovy eggs. Isn't incubation time for them 37 days? Has your temp been higher than normal, which can accelerate development? Turning might be ok as long as it's not turned upside down.

Have you checked on any of the threads that are specifically for Muscovy? If not, I know there are a number of people on the chat thread for the 24 Hour auction thread that have them. I would ask one of them. I did post a request for anyone experienced in Muscovy to pop over to this thread to hopefully answer you!

Ok. Stop turning. Turning is less critical when within a week of hatching apparently. Good to know! I'd up the humidity as well.

I did! Humidity is 65-70 now. Noonish I checked and its started to external pip. The other has started working it, they peep back at me!!ahhhh so excited. They're supposed to go 35 days and the temp has been a bit high this last week.

I'm a rule player. So....according to the Rules of Chicken Math I have 0 chickens. I need to get busy!!!!

Are sure you are counting your birds correctly? There are specific rules that apply:
1. You do not count any eggs in the incubator because you don't count your chickens before they hatch.
2. You don’t count chickens that were given as a gift because they were a present and are more properly considered a gift rather than a chicken.
3. You do not count any bird under 18 weeks old because they are too young to lay eggs so they are considered juveniles rather than chickens.
4. You don't count bantams because bantams are considered bantams rather than chickens.
5. You don't count ornamental birds because they are ornamental and are considered yard art, folk art, or fine art rather than chickens.
6. You don’t count birds beyond laying age because they’re retired and don’t lay eggs and are considered retirees rather than chickens.
7. You don’t count birds in molt because they’re are in molt and missing feathers so cannot be properly considered as complete chickens.
8. You don’t count males because males are for the production of meat and count as a food source rather than chickens.
9. You don’t count males even if they’re not destined for meat productions because they are protectors of the flock and are more accurately considered guard dogs rather than chickens.
10. You don’t count laying hens because they produce eggs and thus are more accurately described as a food source rather than chickens.
11. You don’t count sick or injured birds because they are sick or injured and their disposition is in question so they go on the injured or sick list not on your list of chickens.
12. You don’t count birds that are for sale or possibly for sale because they belong or will belong to someone else.

Thus, if you follow the rules (and it is always good to follow the rules) you may only count healthy full size female chickens that are not in molt and not a gift and are of laying age but not laying.

Hatchaholics seem to be the right group of people to help me with my question.

I have eggs in my brinsea mini advance. I have done 2 hatches in it before this one and I determined that the temp on it was about a degree low, the first batch set at 99.5 hatched on day 23 and the second hatch when I set the incubator to 100.5 hatched on day 21. The directions say to fill 1 of the 2 water chambers on days 0-18 and then fill both for lockdown to up the humidity. I have 2 different digital thermometer/hydrometers that I got from incubatorwarehouse.com, one you put into the incubator and the other has a probe thing that goes in and the part with the numbers stays on the outside. When I filled just 1 chamber they both read the humidity around 55%, I tried to get it down by covering the chamber with a tissue and 1 says it's 25-30% and the other says 10%. Also, both meters give me drastically different temps (98.8 and 97.0). Should I just toss them and get a new one? I've only used one of them once and the other twice. I also have one of the glass thermometers that came with my hovabator and that only has marks for 98 and 100 and the line was somewhere in between so it could be 99 or 99.5. What do you guys use?

I am trading eggs with a guy on here, @BudJ, I don't know what else he has available right now, but he has a ton a of Orpingtons and they are all beautiful!
