Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I have been letting BigUms out with the girls for a bit with supervision of course. Salt (queen of the roost) she keeps him in check and the other youngest he dose fine with but the EE's and the barred rocks not so much and they are scared of him!! which is understandable since he will chase them and is relentless!! He wont go near our oldest girl Big Red. He acts like he is scared of her lol. I do say he has gotten better with practice and no longer grabs them by their comb and not being so forceful with the girls. So I do have hope for him to become a good Roo. For Now I do not let him around the EE's or the barred rocks until he can be nice to them like he is with salt and the others. Time will tell.

I don't know how old he is, but I tend to keep all cockerels away from all the hens until they are a year old. Then if they are still too hormonal, which is what he sounds like, then I separate them for a few more months. I won't let hormonal roosters get rough with my hens. The hens give me eggs. It's all about them here. Yes, I like it when they lay fertilized eggs and hatch them for me, but I wait until the rooster can be nice. :)

Oh man...hope everything is okay with your shoulder and your hand heals nicely.
I have a torn rotator cuff, most likely surgery sometime. I was told to use left arm carefully. Not sure what I'll plant. Maybe just do dahlias and potatoes and the onion plants I've started.

And you did this working too hard? No fall? Slow down! Take it easy on yourself. Are you left handed? I understand these things don't just heal on their own. Hope you can get the surgery soon. ❤️

It was already injured. Have been in physical therapy since last June. Now it's gotten bad and painful. I'm right handed. Somehow after the bending forward and working with my arm in the hanging forward position, it didn't want to return back normally and felt stuck and was very painful. Still is. Getting older is not for chickens, or sissies.

I know what you mean. Getting older is not for people either. LOL

My right shoulder is still weak and hurts from my injury last July. It functions fairly well though. And to add insult to injury... a couple weeks ago my LEFT shoulder started hurting, and it feels like a rotator cuff injury. Don't know exactly how it happened.

Sleep has been difficult lately. I've been trying to get used to falling asleep on my back instead of on my side.
