1st time hatching in my incubator. 16 eggs set on 9/15, 3 eggs didn’t hatch (not fertilized) and 3 chicks died

My remaining 10 chicks appear to be all hens!!!
I did watch a video on choosing hen eggs over rooster eggs which I headed but thought was bogus. Now I’m not so sure.
