Hatched but still connected?

So I peeled all the shell away and now he just has leathery lining attached. I’m not sure if I should cut the lining off so he doesn’t bleed ? Will this just fall away? I’ve got him wrapped in a damp, warm towel… should it just be dry and warm?
Did he bleed when you did that? No wet towels, those chill the duckling. Put it in a paper towel lined bowl. Don't cut anything.

Did you help this baby hatch?

It was not ready/time.

I see other eggs in your incubator... Do not help them yet.

Did you take this duckling out of the egg?
I just peeled the shell away and left the rest attached. He’s currently pocketed in a warm/dry towel and my skin - his exposed bits are covered. He’s cheeping and moving. I’m so heartbroken for this little one 😭

I peeled away a bit of the dry shell around the air cell so I could keep it moist. He internally pipped on Monday and pipped yesterday. He didn’t make a ton of progress by this morning so I only chipped off bits that weren’t attached to anything. No bleeding. I got the membrane a bit wet with some warm water and he did the rest.
The other eggs are still a couple weeks out. They’re local/not shipped. This little one was the only one of 16 shipped eggs to hatch.
Poor little love.

So he is currently warped in a clean, dry washcloth between myself and a one time use heat pouch. Making occasional peeps and a decent amount of chittering noises.
I removed all the remaining shell, leaving the bit of lining attached.
today was day 28, so in theory he was on target. He started this whole process on his own overnight Sunday-Monday morning. By 5 am yesderday (Tuesday) he had pipped, and this morning when I came to check on him and the other younger eggs he had a small piece around the pip spot that had fallen away. I shined my flashlight in there to check on him and could see his little beak and face, but the lining was papery and dry. I peeled a bit of the shell that wasn’t attached to any part of the lining enough to get a q-tip with some coconut oil on it. The air cel was saddled and took up a lot of surface area, so when I checked on him later this am he had busted through most of the lining, but not any more of the shell. So I peeled away the rest of the empty air cell prt of the shell and he eventually flopped his way to where my original post started.
I wouldn’t have expected him to do any of this if he hadn’t been ready? All of our other shipped runners that developed died before they pipped. When I opened them up they were all under developed and their beaks/heads were pointed toward inward.
💔 💔 💔

Well, promising news - he’s still wiggling and warming up. The dried up lining held on for quite a while, but I finally decided it would be a bigger health risk to leave it on overnight. So I clamped it for a bit and then pulled from the sac end and it came right off, no bleeding, and put some bacitracin on. Certainly seems like he’s getting stronger/waking up and I’m hopi g by morning he will be feeling 💯
I’m exhausted.

He made it through the night, and is up walking, drinking water and eating food under the brooder this morning. He’s fascinated by the older ducks (three week olds) that are housed next to him.
thanks for all your quick responses and help yesterday!!
