Okay, first time hatching. Built my own incubator. Bought SLW eggs from fellow BYC member. I don't remember SLW having feathered feet or black legs. Tell me what you think I have. Some have orange legs. VERY ORANGE.

The only one who looks just like my SLW chicks is the chick in the fourth picture. Mine had bright orange legs when they were brand new. I've got hatchery birds from MPC.

I'ma chick newbie though, so I don't know how much variance there is in chicks of the same type.

They sure are cute though!

I'm new here too, so take it for what's it's worth.. all my SLW's were blackish. No feathers on feet.

None of my SLW chicks looked like that but here is the link for feathersite http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGP/Wyand/BRKWyandChix.html . I would have never guessed they were SLW.

All of mine looked like the second set of pics.

Looks like maybe a few Easter Eggers are in your batch. Really cute ones!

fshinggrl, Whoa! Either that is a really big chick or very tiny hands.

Hello all, I am hoping that someone from southeast Georgia will read this and help. I have an orphaned baby muscovy duck that I am looking for a home for. It is about 4-5 weeks old now and doing well. I do not have the proper facilities to raise this friendly little duck. I live on the Islands outside of Savannah. Please reply if you can help or if you know of someone that can. Thank you.

I see no pure anythings in there, let alone SLW's. They look like a bunch of mixes to me. The last picture looks like a brown leghorn, and then you notice the legs... hmm, nope, not brown leghorn. They're green! They are a cute bunch of babies, but I hope you didn't pay much for your eggs. They're mutts.

Do they look like SLW mixes or other mixes. I just want to know whether its worth keeping them for egg production or corn feed them for the freezer? They are VERY flighty and scream every time I open the door to give treats and check food and water. The treats, they ate the bread but step around the broccoli and tomato and yogurt like its a snake, which is how they treat me too. Are they worth the trouble to get eggs? My others are friendly and jump in my lap when I sit in the run and cackle when I get home and call out Hey Girls!! I love them so, but these are not very endearing. What to do?
