I had a broody hen hatch six baby chicks on Sept 30th. The eggs were from a friend of a friend so I don’t know the breeds but she thought she had a Black Copper Marans Rooster. Anyways as I was watching them today I noticed that small of them have tail feathers and some don’t…. Some have large wings and some have short wings. Do either of these things indicate breed or sex?

I've read/been told that females develop feathering before males but I won't judge that way. Pictures when they're at least 4wks would be "easier" to sex ... between 6 - 8wks even better. What I watch is the comb/wattle development.

I‘m not looking for someone to sex them ….. curious if the different style wings is indicative of something?
