Hey guys!! Im not new to this group. Ive got a chick who hatched early this morning while I was at work, I just checked in on my group of chicks who seem to be doing very well. 1 chick I was like what happen to you. took it out and looked at it. this chick had a crossed beak and the face is slanted down. like deformed. Its running around acting like nothing is wrong and is very sassy. Now I had a chick who was deaf and blind in 1 eye, but sadly something got her an that batch of chicks. Will this chick be alright or should we you know, help it along??? I did name it Ruth from the Goonies. its full of life and pushes the other around.

You will just have to wait and watch it. Some cross beak do okay, and others need help eating. Many offer them moistened feed as it's easier to eat. I wouldn't hatch from that hen again as it can be genetic.

My thing is I don't know what hen that was I got 13 of them. I hatched eggs from this same group 4 weeks ago. They just started laying in November of 2024.

Hopefully you don't see anymore. It also can be from a nutritional deficiency, so be sure to feed a good ration to the parent stock, and chicks. The other cause is said to be improper incubation, but if a hen hatched them it wouldn't be a cause.

They got plenty of good foods, they eat better and I do. But definitely keeping an eye out. Thank you 😁
