Well look who was waiting for me when I got home. I couldn't take wondering how it was doing, so I left work early. Lol!

I just wanted to share my last minute, did it myself, incubator. I really didn't feel like getting out my large incubator and firing it up so I crafted one out of an old ice cream bucket. It had pretty much everything my other one did, minus the fan. I used a camera tripod and hooked my heating lamp to it. The tripod actually worked well because I was able to raise and lower the lamp as needed. I cut a small hole on the edge of my lid so I could run my hydrometer into and monitor the humidity and temp. I wrapped it all in towels to try and keep the temp steady. It wasn't worry free and required monitoring before I got everything where it needed to be, but it did what I needed. I even made a hole towards the bottom so I could add water if needed.

Thank you! I was hoping to hear that and not something negative. I was pretty proud of myself. Lol!! Although there was a point where I thought maybe I should break out my incubator just so it could keep a fairly steady temp while I was at work but it kept cutting out on me when I incubated eggs the last time, so I thought better of it.

You made the right choice, no worries... and if any says different, you have living proof you did the right thing!
