Hatchery LF cochins

Where did you get Marion and Blue from? They are very pretty.

Knowing my luck, I'll get the only broody-less cochins around.

I hatched Marion and Blue - they are from my coop eggs (mother is Chloe and father is Versace - my splash Orpington Roo). All of Versace's chicks are blue, or at least blue based - when crossed with my buff Orp, the chicks are blue with buff/orange.

Oh that's right, now I remember. Sorry, I've had 2 kids going Mom, mom, mom all afternoon driving me batty. I finally told them to leave me alone for a bit so mom can have some quiet time.

My head was just pounding.

Anyway, back to the post: What hatchery did you get your cochins from?

Made me giggle - no kids here (

) just lots of "pets"; but there are times the parrots drive me to drink - almost, sometimes, well maybe.

One for sure I got from Privett - that is where the feed store orders from. The other, came from CA - and I believe her feed store also ordered from Privett.

Okay then, my feed store orders from Privett and Belt. And since Belt doesn't carry LF cochins, if I decide to get them they'd be from Privett. I looked up their site and can't find the varieties of cochins they sell - do you happen to know? I really love blue (which I've seen at my feed store so I know they have them), partridge, anything laced (which I see you have a silver laced so they carry those). I just don't want white or buff. Solid white is a big hawk magnet here, and I'm just not wild about buff.

I have three hatchery standard cochins from Ideal (Blue, Splash, and goldenlaced). Two out of three are broody right now and all three went broody last year. Today my splash girl hatched out turkey poults for me

Ideal's cochins have a great brooding instinct.

Back in the day when they had pics on their website, Privett had most every variety of LF Cochin available. I ended up with some of their bantam cochins last year and they were nice for hatchery stock. You can call them and they'll tell you what is available.

I have 3 barred cochins from Privett........bought them via TSC last spring. 2 have gone broody....1 has 3 babies she is sharing with 2 leghorn cross girls....the other is faithfully sitting on her wooden eggs

I also had 3 black cochins from Privett...I sold them to TennesseeTruly on here last summer and 2 of 3 are broody now.

All of these are Large Fowl. I do have 3 large fowl cochins from breeder stock, bought from HappyMtn (not sure where she got them before)....I have only had them a couple months AND they just started laying, but 1 already went broody for me....
