We ordered chicks from Welp and Murray mcmurray this year. They where suppose to arrive Monday the third from Mcmurray and Wed. the 5th from Welp. Welp sent us our chicks March 5th instead. They said they would resend them on the 5th of may at no charge. We were happy with this solution. So I was expecting an early morning call tomorrow from mcmurray. The number they are suppose to call first is my friend anna's cell phone. My home phone was secondary number in case they couldn't get a hold of anna.
Yesterday we where at a Exotic animal auction 2 and half hours from our house. We got home at 5pm and had a message on our home phone saying our chicks where in cedar rapids (a 45 min drive from home, but we drove right through it to get home from kalona!) they had been hatched Friday and would not get to monticello till monday. I tried calling post office but they closed at 4. They never called Anna's phone all day!
I am guessing these where the chicks from Mcmurray but Im not sure. They simply said a "large order of chicks" we had ordered 28 from Welp, over 140 from Mcmurray. I have ordered from them multiple times before with no problem what so ever. They have always came on Monday healthy and alive. However I don't think a chick is going to make it 5 days with no food or water. Im guessing im going to open a box of dead chicks tomorrow morning and if there are any alive I doubt they will make it long.
Has anyone else had this happen? Wondering what to expect when I get a hold of the hatchery tomorrow. Hoping for a new shipment of chicks and partial refund.
This has been a bad year for hatchery dealings!
