Hatchery or breeder...

I have no advice for you, but I appreciate you posting this thread.

As a first time chicken seeker it has been very useful to read this thread.
I still have more research before picking my first breed and finding my first breeder.

I have bought both but I have never gotten sick chicks from a hatchery....I have from a breeder. If you want egg chickens get them from a good hatchery. Meyer is great. If you want show chickens buy them from a breeder but I would suggest getting references first so you dont end up with sick and dying birds.

Don't forget most times you can only get straight run from a breeder, so unless you can keep the 50% of roos that come out of your order, you will have to find a place to get rid of them. Not a reason to not get from a breeder, just a heads up on the reality of it.
