Hatchery Recommendation?

Better hatcheries will have better sexing. Ideal, privet, and meyer are all good hatcheries. I can personally recommend McMurray and Mt. Healthy, both have smaller minimum orders or small order fees. For this late in the season, Mt.Healthy will have the best selection as its not as well known so it's less likely to be sold out.

Thank you! I’ll check them out

I've used McMurray and they were great, and my ladies are beautiful! I've also used My Pet Chicken, again beautiful birds and they have a 100% correct sexing policy. If you do end up with a cockerel by chance they will refund you the full price plus shipping, it doesn't matter how old the bird is when you discover it's a cockerel

Thanks for the info! Getting a list together.

My problem with getting the cockerels is having to find homes not the refund! Damage done! I just bought olive eggers from feed store which were from privet I think. On their website it says they are sexable. They have barring so the white spot telltale sign! I bought 3 and 2 males out of 3. The two males had more defined spot and the one pullet was a blurry spot. Isn’t that backwards? Either way I didn’t know they were sexable til a few days later and went to their website. Very irritating! I felt like the chicken people at feed store should have known!

No, it's not backwards. In both sex links and auto sexing breeds the male had a clearer headspot, and is often lighter overall

Why would an employee at a feed store know all the details of every breed? I agree, they could try harder but that's asking a lot.

I find it funny that all the store employees seem to own chickens though.
And since they don't generally carry all breeds, they ought to know a little more about the few they are getting in, especially when they end up dumping 2 and 3 kinds into on brooder bin.

I am not complaining. It made it easier for me to abstain from buying more. Letting reason rule.

Good point! As we know from just observing on here, just because you own some, doesn't mean you know anything about them. At my feed store, the paperwork is never right, so it wouldn't help at all for the employees to know the breeds listed.
