I have been thinking about getting some Salmon Faverolles recently and I've read a few threads about them. Some people say that some of the hatchery birds don't have the five toes, beards, and muffs. Does anybody know if the chicks sold from Meyer Hatchery stay true to their breed or not? It's the only hatchery I can find that has a minimum of three chicks and currently has females available.

My pet chicken has some nice ones, that's where mine came from "in egg form" one hen did not hatch to standard thought no beard or muff color and toes were spot on. Second hen is absolutely perfect and I got a nice sharp colored roo.So if they sell the chicks from the same hens they sell eggs from they are a good bet.My avatar is the more standard one she is about three months old there, going on five now and beard, muffs, and butt fluff make up about 75 percent of the chicken.

Awesome. Thank you! Because of my zip code the mimumum is 6 but that's a lot better than some of the other minimums I've seen. I'll have to see if it's a definite yes on getting them and I also have to see how big the coop were building is going to be :fl.

I hope you get some they're awesome chickens. They are big babies and have really neat voices. If you mix them with other chickens make sure you choose docile breeds, they don't fight back and they move slow for a chicken so you kind of have to look out for them. Last thing and I wish someone would have told me, they are curious and will check out anything in a heartbeat regardless if they should or not. :)

I hope I get some too. I've heard RIRs aren't very accepting of new birds however mine are really sweet, including my roo, and hopefully won't be too much of an issue. Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully they will find enough entertainment inside our big fence instead of outside of it.

Aww :love. My RIRs will jump the big fence every now and then and it's a pain to carry them all the way back. Especially if there's more than one. I don't know exactly how tall it is but it's probably 4 or 4 1/2 feet.
