Hatchery Salmon Faverolle...

I have BO's from Ideal also. One of them has a very very tiny comb. The other one has a huge comb that flops over! Both of them are yellow, and have huge feet, and are totally hateful without any sign of normal over friendly BO personalities.

I got all my chickens from Murray McMurray, and, well. . . Personally I wouldn't get a Favy from a hatchery. Or any other bird. Like mine, hatchery chickens are sweet and good as pets, yes, but no where near as beautiful, pure, and reliable as breeder stock. But, that's my opinion. I would agree and admit that my Brahmas, most of my Polish, most of my Wyandottes, and so on aren't show quality, and I do love them - But next time I'm getting chickens from a breeder. Not trying to party crash, but I just like quality birds, and not ones with mothers raised in factory-like conditions or with mixed breeding with a claim that they are pure-bred.

I think most of us agree with you. My hatchery birds are my layers- eggs, pets, and bug catchers. I wouldn't use them for breeding unless it was a project of some sort. I am really happy with my dark cornish however-don't know if I'd get anything better elsewhere.

Mine are just pets also, and egg layers. Sometimes I hatch their eggs, but just for fun.

I got a Polish from a local breeder, and my hatchery Polish are so incredibly sad in comparison. The bred Polish is BEAUTIFUL!!

Strange! My Faverolle girl from Ideal looks much better than that - actually, looks pretty decent to be a hatchery bird.

Here are my girls, all from Ideal -

Salem, the Black Langshan. She actually looks MUCH beter now that she has filled out.

How old is Holly? Do you have a sussex roo? Reason I ask- I have a young sussex hen with way too much white like that. Alohachickens is doing a version of a "swedish flower hen" project- bet she'd love some of her eggs too.

That type of Faverolle is much better than most hatchery bred Favs. What a lucky find! Despite of her color, enjoy her as a pet Faverolle.

I had a beautiful faverolle and a not so beautiful faverolle from Meyer hatchery. I do think that one of my hens was breeder quaility if not show quality. That girl is really ugly I feel bad but can't stop from laughing at the same time.
