Hatchery Silkies

My hatchery Silkies looked like this

Lol, just kidding.
I got a bunch of white one's from TSC. Pretty funny asked them to pick out of the bantam bin just the one's with five toes. They looked at me like I had two heads, then were shocked there was chicks with five toes Lol!
They were the fastest chickens to start laying I've ever had, and layed awesome lots. Were good size too, rooster dressed out at five lbs. I suspect they were crossed with some leghorns at some point. Did have silkie feathers and were fibro, just were a lot bigger than they are supposed to be and layed great which they shouldn't.
I'd have to search for pics of them on here.
LMAO! The way some people talk about hatchery quality, I wonder if this is what they see!

Hi!

I just ordered my first silkies from a hatchery. I LOVE the look of the show quality birds, but I am more interested in having pets.

I know hatchery quality are nowhere near show quality, but I'd love to see pics of people's hatchery silkies! I looked through the silkie thread, but it was too difficult to sort through the 6000+ pages.

Honestly - I'm just so excited about my chicks that I want to live vicariously through this thread. I have to wait until June....
Congratulations on your upcoming silkies ... I’m excited for you.

My Fifi aka the white silkie (which is a roo btw). He was from a feed store. He’s a pretty ugly silkie but so sweet. The last pic he’s with my show line splash silkie. It’s my favorite pic bc it looks like he’s wearing fluffy pants :lau

I"ll try to get pics posted soon of my two TSC silkie roos Prince a white and chewie a mottled blue grey red black color. Put me in mind of chewbacca hence the name. Live my silkies and they get lots of comment from egg customers and family and friends.

Haven't been able to find my silkie pics on here yet besides these two of my silkie roo. Hard to find old pics with this new format on BYC posted on the older format. Haven't been able to find chick pics or pullet/hen pics.
The white birds in the background not silkies, a couple jersey giants and a manx rumpie.

He looks like a real rooster. Pretty too! For some reason my TSC roo looks like an awkward pullet with a oversized red comb :) but mine crows all day long, literally... so no doubt he’s a roo.

Lol, he crowed all day long AND all night long. It was ridiculous all night long. And got my other roosters in other coops crowing all night also. I had to get rid of him then the night crowing stopped.
My plan was breeding him with white jersey giants for bigger broodies, ended up going white jersey giant roo over silkie hens  (good thing the TSC 'silkie' hens were bigger than they are supposed to be lol).
I actually still have two hens from that cross and they did brood some eggs. Getting old now, one fibro and one not, neither had silkie feathers. The fibro one hatched out one naked neck that was fibro of hers

That's her, JG/silkie cross with another NN chick she hatched not hers.

Wow! So cool! I always thought silkie mixes were so cute. Kinda remind me of like yorkie mixes lol.

Yeah the crowing deal. For the longest time I would hear cockadoodledoo from the coop and then I’d run outside and all the chickens were looking innocent like rooster? There’s no rooster here! Then I played rooster crows from YouTube and he hasn’t shut up since. He has to go sadly. I thought about a crow collar too but idk I feel bad putting it on him. Here’s my ugly ducking again lol. He looks like he has a silkie Afro! :D That’s like the only cute thing on him is his Afro lol. That and his bright Tiffany blue ears. Kinda hard to see those in the pics though.

He started out so cute too. Pics attached of him of my boyfriend holding him when he was a few months younger. Current pic is him behind my Sumatra.
