She's a Phoenix that carries the onagadori (super-long-tail) gene... however my male made the unfortunate mistake of being annoying and flew out of the run one day. The fact that he was annoying made the loss not sting as much. My dogs respect the coop and run, but escapees are too tempting. She actually drove me nuts - mean little bugger! I think motherhood has made her softer, as she lets me pet on her and move her and check eggs and babies with little protest now.

And Kelly, I'll just wait for one of the others to go broody - I have these chicks and your other 4 for now. And the meaties soon... but I really want Buff Orpingtons someday.

And maybe Silver Appleyards. But that means I need a duck pond I can clean.

When my BO pullets grow up you can have first crack at their eggs. My BO roo is patiently waiting for his little ladies, but they're only 2 months old right now.

Well, I think there are seven now! There's that single egg left... I don't hear any chirping, but there's so much other chirping that it's hard to tell. Babies keep poking out, running over to have a snack and then back under mama. Very cute! I'll let her sit on it for a couple more days, but I think it may have died.

There is 1 pure yellow one, 3 pale yellow with dark spots, one gold one, one or two gold with chimpmunky spots/stripes and one very dark one that doesn't have feathery feet... yet. He looks like my black cochins did when they were chicks, so maybe I did get a black cochin/EE out of it. I can't really tell who hatched when, but I'm thrilled!

Come on everyone else - more chickies!

I have 3 dozen unkown breeds due this Sunday the 16th. This is my first time and I'm hoping i did everything right. It is a joint project with my grandsons. I don't know who is more excited me or them. Wish me luck

Nancy your eggs are doing well only one quit. I hope this will be another good hatch for me.

OSUman what are you hatching? Do you also feel silly hatching this late in the year? I only did 6 BCM and 5 in lockdown. I see you have white leghorns. I have 2 light brown leghorns that are beautiful not so flighty.
