Hi all I have four pips and a chirp and peep here and there of the seven I set that are due tomorrow. Question one egg is pipped in the middle more towards the smaller end, does this one have a shot??? First time hatcher so I am going to be bator watching for the night.

I only still have one. But it pipped nicely and zipped and is just hanging out trying to get all the way out. I'm not a fan of using egg carton to hatch though first time i've used this method, it makes you want to help. Plus i have one that i hope makes it , it pip with the hole up against the side of eggie holder I did open bator (i know my bad) but all i did was shift it alittle so air can move. I will be laying them down next time, here is first baby, another is pipping

Orps are cute little chickies. I have 8 orps didnt hatch them got them as day olds but they were a blast.
Sissy is this your first hatch.

I went into lockdown yesterday with Penedesenca (Wheaten & Partridge) and Barred Bantam Cochins yesterday. I had seperated the iffy eggs the last time I candled, but didn't have time for a final candling yesterday. I just popped them all into egg cartons, leaving the iffy ones in a seperate carton and they're in to stay

They're due Sunday, but the Cochins could go anytime. I guess I better go move the BC Marans babies from the mudroom to the outside brooder~LOL

To-Astatula, I saw information here about hatching in egg cartons. I tried it last week for the first time and all six viable eggs hatched beautifully! I was very happy with the babies being able to conserve their energy for hatching, not rolling into each other all of the incubator, much less rolling the unhatched eggs around! When under a setting hen, there's no rolling for feet across a flat surface, so I think keeping them still in the incubator too makes great sense.
