hatching all year

Coop building you will have to post pic. I don't like posted eggs you never know what the pens are like I know my own pens are healthy well fed clean and have good roo hen ratio. As for posting well never can tell how gently they treated. But I think you can candle to check air cell and other travel damage theres great candling info here along with really great development pics thread. shrink wrap membrain generally mean humiduty is low. The whole process of hatching is huge effort for babies which means if their parents havent been cared for the chicks are weaker still wondering if a cool down each day would make the difference like a hen does when she gets a drink and feed. when are you planning to start another batch. Its getting to hot in australia hohum have to wait til it cools off after summer.

hi i am going to try around 18 serama eggs in a weeks time these will be my last eggs this year so hoping to get it right would love 50% hatch its our winter here in the uk getting cold ,wet thanks

I have learned shipping eggs can be a lot of the problem with bad hatches. I have had 12 out of 18 eggs hatched that was shipped and I have had 1 out of 22 hatch. I think it depends on how they are handled and the temp outside. I was really beginning to think it was my incubator because my hatches were not getting any better so I pulled 5 of my own eggs and so far I have 100% fertile and 100% moving babies. They go in lock down tomorrow. If they all make it out then I know it can't be my incubator causing the problems. My temp stays at 100 and my humidity is around 40 during hatch and I raise it to 55 to 60 on lockdown.

Serama's are a challenge. The best hatch I have had was this last set. I had 18 shipped eggs and 18 local eggs. I had 7 of the shipped eggs hatch and 7 of the local eggs hatch. Only 5 babies died before hatch this time. The rest never developed.

good luck. You will find out what works for you.
