hatching around 11-15-09? Lockdown Today

I have 5 EE's and 11 that can be full blooded BO, BO/White Rock crosses, or BO/Dominique crosses in the bator. As you have probably guessed my roo is a BO. The EE came from Carole at Fowlvisions. All of these have good movement in them right now so I'm

they will all hatch. Last hatch was terrible out of 19 eggs I only have one survivor. He/She is about 3 weeks old. (pretty sure it's gonna be a roo

) I am on day 18 today. They are due on the 16th but I'm wondering if they may come a little early because I heard cheeping this morning and some are rocking. Cant wait to see them. I really hope my EE's make it this time. None survived last time. I started with 36 eggs this time and I am down to 16. Not real good numbers I know. I just hope they all make it. Good luck everybody. I hope we all have chickies soon.

Mine are due to hatch TODAY! So far 1 has hatched, and another has a cracked shell! I didn't know they could chirp IN the shell!

Sounds like you were in the same boat as me. I only had one chick hatch out of 9 eggs and Im pretty sure it is a roo. But I will keep him all the same as long as he doesn't attack me or the hens.
Im guessing my temperature was too high and I read somewhere that while incubating male chicks inside the egg can withstand higher temperatures then females. And the one that survived was a roo, When I cracked open the other 3 eggs that made it to lockdown they were all fully formed, but dead. They were shipped eggs so that could have had some effect too. But I blame the thermometer that came with the LG incubator. It misread by 4 degrees. So I probably had my temperature around 103-104. The whole time and another reason that lead me to think that, was the chick that did survive hatched on day 19 and was rocking the day before lockdown. I'm surprised that he even hatched and lived. I had to help him out, humidity was too low. Hes supposed to be a pure-bred Ameraucana chick, but he had no muffs or a beard when he hatched. Hes just now starting to grow little feathers that stand out around his face so that makes me feel better. Hes a little over a month old and finally starting to get out his funky feather problem my mom still calls him a vulture though >.<

Anyway. I wish you luck with your hatch ^.^ I hope everything goes well. Mine are supposed to hatch this weekend but I accidentally counted the days wrong and lockdown was today not yesterday, and I put them on lockdown this morning before I went to school. SO they should all be hatched out by Monday.

I haven't heard anything yet, or see any rocking, but I haven't been constantly staring at the bator either. I will keep myself distracted this time o__O Im kinda glad I work on Saturday xD But Sunday I have all day and Friday is half day at school

Yay! I love to listen to them chirp <3 But it makes me stair at the incubator for hours on end too xD

What are you hatching?

Well my sis just told me that she heard peeping from the incubator, but I made her tell me for sure that it was from the incubator and not my room lol
And when I peeked in the incubator yestarday I saw one egg rocking for a second it must have enjoyed the rock music on the radio

Hoping for some pips soon

Also a humidity question, I am having to continually resoak my sponges about twice a day, to keep 60%, will opening the bator for only a second be bad for them the humidity doesn't drop too much, only to 55% then it goes back up to 60%. Im hoping it will rise when they start hatching. Once I see pips I will not touch the incubator at all untill I see chicks getting into trouble.
