I am so jazzed!!! I got 6 beautiful welsummer hatching eggs from gamebirdsonly 8 days ago and I candled 3 yesterday and 2 have moving babies inside!!!!! the other was cold so I'm thinking the sweet little broodie Silkie thats sitting on them pushed it out of the rotation for a reason. when I found 2 live I decided not to touch the rest.
I read here that it is best to let them sit and rest before putting them under the hen and I know that dehydration is a problem with hatching eggs, so, I put them on several layers of tissue paper on a heating pad on the low setting and placed a wet paper towel over the top of them and let them sit quietly for 12 hours.
gamebirdsonly did an AWESOME job of packing them!
There are also several mutt eggs under her, 2 other hens kept going in there and laying right underneath her! I put a box over her with the front cut out to stop that, and it worked.
Who else is hatching around the 5th of june?
lets share experiences!
