Anyone know about deathlayer chicks?

They are called death layer because they lay eggs until they die. We have (5) 5 week old death layers right now.
My experience has been that they don't lay eggs til they die. I have one here that hasn't laid an egg in well over a year. I have another that still lays, but sporadically.

Make sure you are feeding high protein. 4 -7 months is when many of my DL's died from genetic issues. I have found high protein feed is best for them throughout their lives, esp if you want eggs.

We have 8 golden deathlayer chicks just hatched in incubator.
7 of them are a brownish red color and one is very blonde.
Does the difference in color indicate sex?

Also does anyone have any advice on raising this breed.
Ive heard they are harder to raise?
I think the color is just the color. Yellow is probably a silver Deathlayer. I have golden. They're 3 weeks old and one has a feather mowhawk...no comb that I can see yet. Thinking that may be my roo. But this is my first clutch of Deathlayers, so I'm not sure yet.
