Red Sex links (second gerneration). The only eggs I can get near me, without having to buy online and have my broody sit on nothing for 1week.

Well some will go to the 4 H kids. I also have about 30 sold. There shipped eggs so will see what kind of hatch rate I get.

I'm putting 6 eggs under my first broody ever right now! I'm so excited

The eggs are a little muddy, do I need to clean them first?

Yeah thats a coop lol. I have a radio in there to keep predators away and I have not had anything try to get my chickens yet.... <knock on wood>

They were pretty caked. I picked them up from some guy and they were muddy with all the rain we've been getting. I just wiped them off with a warm moist paper towel. No scrubbing, just gentle "polishing" to get the caked on stuff off.

Just introduced them to my BO. How often should I get her to eat/drink/poop? She gets pretty intense in her broodiness and her crop was empty when I put the eggs under her.
