I'm not being defensive, I love animals and would never willingly hurt one. Like I said the membrane was tough as my other half opened the bator while I was at work.

You referred & assumed I was female, so yes it does matter. Anyway I'm more interested in saving my ducklings and not talking about pointless stuff. I value your help, of course. You just seem to be coming across as blunt and aggressive. I've hardly murdered anyone. I've helped a sick badger I accidentally ran over on a country lane, which I took to the vet at considerable cost to me. He survived and was released back into the wild. I did that because I live for animals and could burst with love for them.
