My duckling busted out but seems to still be attached. Is this and the amount of blood cause for concern?? And if not, how long do I let her like this? She is going crazy moving, kicking and chirping.
She could be still absorbing the yolk. That string or umbilical cord from that to her will dry up and could take a couple of hours yet. If she's struggling to get it off her and it looks like it's pretty much dry, then you could, but if it's still wet and kind of thick, I'd leave it be.
I've had chickens running around dragging the bottom half of their shell around in the brooder. It eventually breaks free.
