Hi, I just discovered your wonderful site...

I have 12 chicken eggs in an incubator which I turn 4 times a day and the temp is constant 98.14, but one of the eggs has dark yellow sticky stuff on it..with no apparent crack:(
I candeled the eggs and can't see anything like the pictures on this site. This is my first endeavour and I had the eggs mailed from the US , (I am in rural Southern Alberta.)
Any info would be thankfully appreciated!

Thanks, Pam

Thanks for answering! The yellow sticky stuff has no odor at all! I do have 2 eggs that were cracked badly but they were not even close to this egg.

It looks and feels the same as pine sap...but no odor. I have kept the 2 cracked eggs in the incubator because I don't want to take the chance of hurting a chick if it is still healthy, although one egg feels light and the yolk does not move. Because I haven't been able to really see much with candling I just want to give each egg a chance just in case ...

This is the first time hatching..

...really appreciate your concern

Pamm

If I were you, I'd get rid of all three of those eggs before one of them explodes. If that happens you'll have a hopeless mess in your incubator and a lot ruined eggs. Just for your own satisfaction, crack open all three just to see if any of them were anything more than a plain yolk; 100 to 1 says they are not fit for hatching.

I agree about the cracked ones...you don't want a sticky smelly mess on your hands and risk contaminating the others with bacteria...:flgood luck

If they cracked in the incubator thats bad but in shipping? I have hatched cracked eggs before. Yes the safe bet is to throw them out. That being said I have never had one explode that did not smell first.

What day are you on anyway?

Also was the yellow on it when you got the egg or has it just appeared?

An were the eggs cracked or did they just crack in the incubator?
