I posted in the incubating and hatching eggs thread here https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/762985/need-hatching-advice-update#post_10855636 but I don't seem to be getting any responses maybe someone here can help me... This is kinda urgent.
Quick run down is I have eggs under a broody and I was being good and not moving/looking under her but she pooped in the nesting box and I lifted up her rear end and scooped the poop out and I saw an egg that had the shell chipped away about 50cents size. This morning I looked at the egg and saw half the shell gone, the chick breathing rapidly, and the membrane very dry.
I am new to this, it is only my second time hatching chicks I don't know what to do. Should I assist or leave it be? You can see the other thread for a pic and other details.
