Hatching chick videos from 6-2-2012

Sorry to say but no.....It had a pip and then it wiggled a little but nothing in a day or so. I still have it in the incubator with high humidity waiting to see if it breaks through. I am up in the air on whether to let nature take its course or help. It is only my second hatch so not sure what to do or not do.

I helped yesterday but it had died.... :( Is there a procedure to follow somewhere? I am a rookie at this and have pretty good hatches as far as when they are ready, out they come, no blood, no ooze or anything. Nice clean hatches...except for this one...

After they have been pipped for more then 24 hours you can try helping them by chipping awy a little shell and or moistening the membraine if it looks dry ect I dont think theres a set rule though , some people probly help earler and some dont at all figureing if its ment to come out it will ( I dont by the nature takeing its course thing becuase nature didnt put the egg in a plastic or stryofoam contraption run by people )
There is a link somewhere but IM not shure where maybe on the top in the sticky thread area ?

Thanks for the advice...If the situation arises again I will try the shell thing...I will do some more research and see what I can find out on the subject. I was kinda doing the "nature" thing but I see your point on it is all a "human" thing up until they hatch. Thanks again.:)

On "Helping" Vs. "Survival of the Fittest" or "Nature taking its Course": 1.) I agree with the idea that "nature didnt put the egg in a plastic or stryofoam contraption run by people" ~ GOD choreographed the hatching process PERFECTLY so that EVERY SINGLE action a chick takes to get out of his/her shell has a specific REACTION in his/her body that makes it possible for him/her to LIVE on the outside of his/her shell. The kicking of his/her feet increases blood flow, heart rate etc. muscles contract, pulling yolk inside of the body, blood vessels in the membrane dry up, so the chick doesn't bleed, etc. etc. etc. Each and every move that little chicken makes all lead to his healthy and strong emergence from his eggshell. SO, on that note when we "HELP" we UNKNOWINGLY (I stress that word, because I happen to know that ALL of us try to help because we LOVE these animals, and would never harm them Knowingly) skip vital steps in the hatching process, steps that are REQUIRED for him/her to LIVE, sometimes. I know that SOMETIMES it IS possible for us to "help" and without our "help" that little chick would not have made it. That is where we come to thought 2.) When Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden they were tasked with naming the animals, subduing the earth, etc. SO, I do believe that if those two had happened upon a chicken trying to hatch unsuccessfully, they would have (with God's backing and approval) been helpful to that baby chicken if it were possible. When we are understanding of the hatching process and all of its intimate details, there may be times when we CAN "help", we just have to be VERY careful NOT to SKIP any of the important steps that the chicklet is REQUIRED to do on his/own in order to survive. It can come down to a Moral decision in a persons own conscience. If and When we decide to "help" our beloved little chickens, we need to keep in mind that this process was created by God Himself, and we, as God's own Creations as well are in NO position to second guess His handiwork. ~Chipping the shell after a "pip", Perforating a membrane that appears to be dry enough as to not cause ANY bleeding, and loving words of Encouragement are ALL I ever allow myself to do in the way of "help" because MY conscience is already loaded down with all the animals lives I did NOT save, and probably hastened to their demise because of my "helping"

~PLEASE NOTE~ This Post is MY OWN THOUGHTS and IDEAS in its ENTIRETY. This Post is not intended to insult, harass, embarrass, or threaten any person, religion, race or national group, etc. I sincerely hope that this post does not cause anyone any upset. God invented Science~ but I certainly do not wish to cause any political, scientific or religious statements. I only wished to portray my VERY OWN THOUGHTS on the matter of "helping" in nature. Thank You.
