ok thanks for your help, you dont think the cockerel with peck them, thier not the hens eggs, but ones ouyt under her, so just wondering? She'll be fine then.
She is at the top of the pecking order, so will the chicks be alright if they stay with her?For my first and second lot I put the broody hen separately from my other birds, my hens have pecked the chicks when they've been out and about so I'd assume itd be similar in the hutch, chicks are also lively after a few days so they may wonder from the mother and get hurt :/
Ah, that might be a problem. Whose eggs are they?ok thanks for your help, you dont think the cockerel with peck them, thier not the hens eggs, but ones ouyt under her, so just wondering?

Can't say for sure, if you don't have another hutch you may need to risk it, maybe pin a blanket over their nest box for at night? She is at the top of the pecking order, so will the chicks be alright if they stay with her?
You'll just have to watch the cockerel. Is he really a young cockerel or rooster? That makes a difference. I haven't had a problem here, but I only keep good cockerels. Your cockerel/rooster may even help to find food for them.ok thanks for your help, you dont think the cockerel with peck them, thier not the hens eggs, but ones ouyt under her, so just wondering?
I got a broody coop but it is in use by my other hen and her 1 month old chick, so may do that untill i can put her in thierCan't say for sure, if you don't have another hutch you may need to risk it, maybe pin a blanket over their nest box for at night?
