I have eggs that are in the bator that are supposed to hatch Wed. Tomorrow is day 18. I have heard of people putting eggs in a carton on day 18 for them to hatch in and sao they don't roll around and the bator stays clean. Does anybody do this? If so how? Does anyone practice another technique for them to hatch in so your bator doesn't get filthy? Thanks!

This is just me but I put an anti slip pad down and a square of paper towel under each egg just so I can see moves they make I like the top post in this forum . where he make little paper holders for each egg.and lays them down on thier side much like mamma nature does

the antislip pad helps them get thier feet under them and when they get moved to the brooder just roll it up and toss it with the little dutys. and egg bits and things

I've heard mixed reviews on the egg carton thing. I definatily am going to take them out of the auto turner for that reason, I don't want to have to super scrub it. However I'm just going to let mine lie on their sides and roll around as they want to, I'd rather have the mess than have a bad hatch. I've heard that when you have them hatch in the cartons you have to cut out the bottom of the carton anyway so that the egg gets it's air circulation but many times the chick will pip then not be able to zip having the carton in the way.
