HATCHING DATE 7th - 8th JUNE!!!! HATCHING BUDDIE ANYONE!!

We have 2 of our 7 so far. I put some cantaloupe in for momma to snack on while she is doing her job. One of the little ones came over and started to eat it. So i tossed some starter feed on the melon so it would eat that. Hungry little thing.

Congrats on the new chicks. I put my eggs in lockdown this morning. It looks like I have 21 viable eggs. 9 Barred Rocks and 6 Blue Lace Red Wyandottes from eggs I purchased from a BYC seller. I have a mix of 6 RIR/Australorp/buff Orpingtons from my flock. Hopefully, we'll have some chicks soon.

Jeeves!!!

That is so awesome!

Well, two chicks have hatched so far today. A Barred Rock and a Australorp/RIR mix. Several more have pipped, but not zipped. One thing I've learned is not to count them before they hatch, so fingers are crossed.

I will update progress and get some pictures up.

As of this evening 12 chicks have successfully hatched. I have 8 Barred Rocks and 1 BLRW. 3 of my RIR mixes hatched. The first chick to pip a BLRW did not make it. I checked him and he was fully formed, not sure what the problem was. I am now in the evening of the 21st day and have 4 BLRW, 2 Barred rocks and 2 RIR mixed eggs that have not pipped. Temperature and humidity are good so I will give them more time to see what they do.

Here are a couple of pictures of the chicks:

As you can see, all seem to be doing well.

I am disappointed with the BLRWs, I started with 12 eggs and have only had one to hatch. 8 out of 12 Barred Rocks seems fair. Hopefully, some more will hatch tonight and tomorrow. I'll check back in with any new developments.

I threw out the remaining eggs this evening. Not even a pip.

All the chicks that hatched are doing well. The Bared Rocks are really cute.

Thanks to BYC I found a supplier for BLRWs within driving distance and picked up 19 eggs today. I'll be setting them in the morning.
