hatching delima - Solved they're hatching! ( update w photos )

Trying something new? jeez that just goes to show you that there are some people out there with ZERO % of common sense..i cant beleive they are making you pay shipping costs on the new ones! Bottom LInE IS YOU GOT ROBBED! Sorry again and I hope they take a little pride in their next shipment to you and do it right!

Is she charging you shipping on the replacements? If so, I'd refuse, and ask for a refund instead.

It's probably too late, by now, but if it isn't, you could try it.

luckly she is not charging shipping for the new ones. Im curious to see how many she sends. I just spoke with the post and they are on their way to my place as I type. I will update tommorow on how it goes. thanks again everyone!

The new eggs arrived yesterday! All were intact minus one that had broken. This time she bubble wrapped each as you can see from the photos. Now I have 30 in the incubator. My delima remains.... Since I should stop turning the first bactch at the end of the month and the second needs to keep turning until mid aug, what should i do? i only have this one incubator and the auto turner takes up the entire thing... im not hopefull that any will hatch from the first batch but if they do. wont this cause a higher humidity levels for the ones remaining? what should I do? Suggestions? scrap the first 9 and just work with the second batch? Thanks Onthespot for your response already. anyone else? thanks

I would mark the dates on both sets, just in case you need to move them around for any reason. I know, you may not be planning to, but sometimes things happen and you do end up moving things around. If yo mark them now, it won't be a problem later. If you never need the markings, so what? It won't hurt anything to have them there.

That said, odds are the 1st ones won't develop, but if they do, here's what I would do:
I'd have a broody box ready, with temp set at 100F to double as a hatcher. Leave the eggs in place, until they're due to pip. Move them to the brooder/hatcher. If the humidity is about 55%-60% in the box, they should be fine. I'd put them upright in an foam carton bottom to hatch.

But if you candle at day 10, you'll know whether any are developing. If they aren't, pull them out, and you won't have a dilemma anymore.

I'd also like to throw in my two cents on the packaging job. It's okay to comment...but please be careful how you phrase things. Maybe this is a new seller that needed the feedback...we were all new once. Give the poor person a break. Sounds like s/he made good on the first shipment.

BEST of luck with your hatch, Jermbubba!!

good point Wynette. We all do have to start somewhere and the seller did make good on the situation. unfortunately after speaking with them they have been shipping eggs for years. and in fact they stated that in the past this method did not work but they wanted to try it again just because it was quicker... to bad it was at my expense... O well at least I got the replacements and the only thing Ive lost is time.

YAY! one came 3 days early! Here she is HENrietta or HENri If need be. IF you go to my site www.chickchickchicky.blogspot.com You can see a ton more photos of my first baby. and an HD video of her hatching. Enjoy! and thanks for all your help!
