Hatching Duck eggs

Congrats.. They are soooo cute. Are all ducklings born yellow then change to different color? And I was wondering, what happens at lock down if you have more eggs due to hatch later, how do you turn them & mist them? Thanks, Julie

oh, okay so its important but doesn't seem to be a problem if done quickly.(opening/closing). Are most ducklings born yellow then turn to a darker color? Thanks, Julie

From what I've learned here, opening the incubator is mainly a problem when the ducklings are pipping because the sudden drop in humidity can cause them to be shrink wrapped. If you need to do things with the eggs in there, it's best to do them before they start to pip.

As for yellow ducklings, most of the time bright yellow ducklings turn white when they're older, but it's not always a given. Some ducks may turn buff or other colors. It depends on the breed and the parents.

Sorry about the stupid questions..but, I have a couple more to add. ~ <1>"Should I Throw The Eggs Away" that have been in the Incubator for 16 days now?? I think they just Weren't Fertile. There are 18 duck eggs & 7 chicken eggs, ALL look like regular eggs inside when candled. ~ <2>"When I Unplug the Incubator, Do I Empty the Water out & Does the Incubator Need to be Re Cleaned Before Used Again"?

Thanks again, Julie

Pekins are yellow when they are born, and will turn white.
Yes throw out your eggs.
Clean it after each hatch..but since you didnt hatch I would just add more eggs to see if they are fertile.
If you open your bator to take chicks or ducklings out and more eggs have pipped there is a good chace you are going to shrink wrap them and they will smother to death, so yes it will be a problem if you open your baor.

There are at Lease 10 eggs outside in the nest, (I haven't counted them the last two days) but I was wondering how long till a hens eggs can be fertile? ~Grrrr... I don't know if I'm saying this right. Okay she's been laying lots of eggs but, Recently is when I've really noticed the Drake breeding or trying to breed with her. So can Part of the clutch/eggs Be Fertile & Part be Infertile? (The Recent eggs/Fertile "maybe" since recently she might have been breed)? OR.. Do you have to wait till the Next Clutch of eggs? >><< I hope this makes since what I'm trying to say. Thanks, Julie
