Hatching Egg Assortment FS/ N. Ga.(SOLD)

Oh man, I could almost do this, mine should hatch around Nov 2nd, I hope. This has to be the most stressful thing I have done, lol.

Hum, tell me about blue orpingtons? I've never seen them in a catalog. This could be my in with DH to start hatching.

You won't see the Blue Orpingtons in most hatchery catalogs because there are very few that sell them. The ones that do, as far as I know, only sell straight run, and very expensive, IMO, for a straight run chick, but not for a rare variety, I guess. They are just a nice large Orpington variety; In my Orpington pen, I have my cockerel with two blue pullets plus a Lt and a Buff Brahma. Here is a thread with pics of my boy Suede that someone here called the George Clooney of roosters, LOL. I'm still waiting for that interested party to send me her info so I can label these sold, but if she changes her mind, I'll let you know.

I read Miss Prissy's thread on homemade incubators. I'm seriously thinking of building one, and then I think I'd like some blue orpington eggs to try out.

I'm sure I'd be able to get you some Blue Orp/Buff Brahma crosses but may not be able to get any pure Blue Orps till December because of my waiting list. The Orp/Brahmas are very strong chicks and seem to hatch easily. You ought to build that bator. There's nothing like hatching your own chicks!

He's been having computer issues, and been busy on the phone with his GF waaaayy too much lately.
I'll probably be looking for hatching eggs this spring, I'm sure we'll talk about it then.

You know what, Cyn, to torment those poor folks...I ought to send you a few Blue Orp girls on your way to see Suede and have more eggs from them next year!

Not sure of safe age to expose the girls to him because of their size.

Gee, Robin, I don't know! Suede is such a tank, he seems even too large for the Brahma girls sometimes. Not too many are sturdy enough to stand up to the ol' Suede-enator, LOL.
Lee, it seems that my big blue boy is quite the popular one these days, doesn't it? He's so funny. I was crouched down, picking the shell off a half-eaten acorn and Suede comes over to me, looks me in the face, and takes it out of my hand to give to his girls. Just wish I knew why Velvet stopped laying. Surely, she isn't really molting at her age-she's only nine months old and everybody else her age is laying just fine. She'd better get in gear! People are waiting on her!
