I was given a little giant incubator that heats to 107F but the egg turner still functions. My basement is about 68F year round. Could I put quail hatching eggs in the turner in the basement for a few days before incubation or is there a problem with this scenario? The turner is for chicken eggs but since they aren’t incubating yet, it would only need a little turning to prevent the contents from sticking to the shell so even if it only moved them slightly it should help, at least in theory? Thanks!

I keep my eggs at room temperature and in a turner for a week in the event that I either decide to incubate a batch or someone wants to buy hatching eggs from me. Since I'm getting less than 10 eggs/day, the quail rails from my Little Giant incubator work great for the purpose. I use one row/day and each day I'll take the previous week's eggs out of the turner and put that day's eggs in it. After 7 days, fertility/viability starts dropping off pretty rapidly so I don't bother trying to incubate anything older than that.

Yes, that should work I have extra turners that is there only use is to turn my eggs for hatching. I don't use chicken rails for my Quail eggs but do use them for my turkey eggs every spring. I also have Quail rails for my turners, so I use those. But I would have to believe it would turn them enough in chicken rail. I have seen others incubate Quail eggs in chicken rails with success, but then I have also seen success from others with no turning.
