Hello!
I am wanting to order some hatching eggs this year but have some concerns.

I was made aware by a breeder that he has had poor hatch rates from eggs Sent to Washington state. He said he believes they X-ray the packages thus reducing viability.

anyone have any experience with this? Anyone in Washington have good hatch rates from eggs shipped from out of state?

We hatched eggs shipped from the midwest this fall and had a 60% hatch rate, which isn't bad for shipped eggs. There's so many variables with shipped eggs. I wouldn't worry about the xray, the biggest issue is how the post office handles them, so make sure they are packaged well. It can help to have them held at the post office for pickup, as long as you plan it so they aren't stuck there over the weekend.

I have had eggs shipped my Meyer hatchery to WA, and had a 90 to 100% hatch rate. Ebay eggs are different, and I get around a 50% rate. My incubator broke in the middle of a large hatch and I lost half. I had bantam eggs from Kentucky in there and was able to hatch 4 out of 12, and 13 out of 33 even with a broken incubator. I usually don't buy from the east coast but these were really pretty chickens. I usually buy enough to lose 50% to be on the safe side.
