My biggest are the blue Shamos, close to 10 poundsWhat are your biggest birds. And are there certain colors of that bird that are bigger than other colors.
Temujin..... I've just got my eggs a few days ago. When do I start incubating them? Like when do they usually finish their clutch of eggs and start to 'set'? With Oriental Gamefowls, are the hens usually almost always broody? I just want to know when to incubate the eggs IF my hen doesn't go broody.... wait til' like 10 days after the first egg? Or more?My biggest are the blue Shamos, close to 10 pounds
Yeah, but I've only got like 4 or 5 eggs right now.... she's not finish with her clutch yet. Do I just go ahead and incubate those first? Or do I wait until she has laid all of her eggs, which I don't know how many more days left...... it's been like 5 days now since the first egg though.Eggs are time sensitive, so I would start incubating right away. Oriental hens are good about setting, but I would go ahead and incubate. You can always move to a hen when she starts to set.
No, from my own hen..... this is my first time with eggs so I'm not too sure of what to do. Sorry I wasn't more clear, haha. Are you talking about eggs from me, or from your hen?
Temujin..... I added another hen to the pen, you think that will cause any stress and make the hen who laid the eggs not go broody and 'set'? I have nowhere else to put the other hen, she's in the pen but in an enclosed cage but everyone can see each other. You think it will be fine, no problem with the laying hen?Oh ok. Just leave them in the nest for her and she will take care of them. Usually after 8-12 eggs she will set.
