Ok. I've read this entire thread. We have eggs in the incubator now. 28 to be exact. First time hatching eggs and extremely nervous now. I went to add more water today since its day 18 and noticed one already half way out of the shell. I haven't even removed the turner yet. What do I do? I'm afraid to touch the chick and remove the turner but the chick is early. I just need some guidance?? Thanks!

unplug the turner!! It will squash the baby. You can pickup the chick it won't hurt it. quickly remove the turner put the eggs and the chick back in the bator lightly spray the eggs with warm water and wait for the rest to hatch.

Since this chick is early, do I leave it in for 48 hours then remove him to the brooder even I no more has hatched yet?

I have put the first 2 into the brooder. How long should it take before they figure out where and what the food and water is?? Oh and 3 more pipping. Today is day 19!! So excited!!

Congratulations! It's always fun when they start to hatch. I would leave them in the incubator at the very least until they're fluffed up. You can leave them for over 24 hours if you want. When they've absorbed the yolk, they have enough nutrition for up to 72 hours or so. The two in the brooder you can dip their beaks in the water so they figure it out if you want. They will find the food. You can show that to them, too, if you want to. They seem to be able to figure it out, though.
