Hello dears,

Hope everyone is fine and doing well .

I have jus ordered around 5000 hyline fertalized eggs from Turkey to AFGHANISTAN for hatching as we don't have quality layers here. First I don know if chicks come healthy after hatching due to long distance (6 hours flight), wether it's good idea to import fertalized eggs, distance won't effect the hatchibility, 2nd how much space is required for 5000 chicks or layers ?

With regards
Haroon

Shipping eggs can affect their viability for hatching.
Do you have a incubator that will hold 5000 eggs?

Haroon I remember awhile back you questioned which breed to get. Not sure what Hyline is but glad you found something. Expect 50% to hatch with shipped eggs and when you factor in a Chinese incubator you'll end up losing another 50%. You should have purchased American !! Now of the 1250 your left with 50% will likely be males. So your left with only needing space for 750 hens. Make sense now?
I would say you need around 1500-2000 sq ft at minimum now you will need to double that so you are able to move the birds in order to be able to clean the place. Oh boy thats a whole lot of chicken poop! I'm sure some professional chicken keepers may chime in at some point. Alot to think about. Good luck!!

Thank you dear so much, yeah you are right I finally found a good layer and I found it online here.

They said they lay around 300 eggs annually.

The problem with the incubation is that we don't have any other incubator rather than Chinese as Pakistani, indian an Irani incubator is also the same as Chinese but with less facility.

So you mean we will get 750 hens out of 5000 eggs ?

No way of telling really and I was kind of joking about the Chinese incubator thing. Here is how I would do the math
5000 eggs ordered
2500 hatch
1250 are males
1250 are hens
Sounds like you should be planning for 2 businesses maybe. Use the males to sell as meat unless you don't want to go through the effort of rasing them.
In the end there is no way of telling how many you will end up with there are to many factors involved. To play it safe you can always plan for the worst case. You also need to figure out how you will be keeping the birds. In cages? or free range of outdoors or in a building?

Hehe thanks, got ya !

I should tell u that we don't have layers in Afghanistan, we import all eggs from neibneighb countries. Therefore I need 5000 layers to produce brown eggs as brown eggs are favorite here.

I have around 1500 square meter land and 600 square meter is covered with Shield. Something in the picture.

Then I need to go for 2 or 3 shipping in order to get 4-5000 layers !

But one main question is thth, won't airfreight effect the health or the hatchibility alot ?
